Dil Kabaddi is a movie directed by Anil Sharma. The film is very bold and adult with its script. There was a time when the censor used to cut out the adult contents from the movie. But now this time the movie Dil Kabaddi has come out of the closet. It brings the sex lives out in the open.
The story is about two couples, Irrfan Khan and Soha, and Rahul Bose and Konkona Sen Sharma. They are best of pals. One day Irrfan and Soha drop a bomb, telling their friends they are separating. Unable to withhold his sexual desires, Samit has no options other than getting into relationship with his yoga instructor Kaya (Payal Rohatgi). Well, it's his time for simmering down with his chintziest desires apart from sexual satisfactions.
The other couple Rishi (Rahul Bose) and Simi (Konkona Sen Sharma) goes ballistic. Rishi and Simi happen to be happily married couples. But again, its fantasies that urges them out to look for other affairs. Rishi, an instructor at film academy falls for his 21yrs Raga (Saba Azad) while Simi introduces Mita to her friend Veer (Rahul Khanna), but she gets attracted to him.
Rest of the story is about their hearts playing Kabaddi resulting in more break-ups and patch-ups.
Acting wise, Soha gives off a matured performance completely in sync with the character she is playing. Irrfan Khan comes up with decent performance throughout all sequences. His characterization is so funny all throughout. Rahul Bose is fabulous. Konkona Sen Sharma is brilliant. Rahul and Konkona's scenes are amazing. Rahul Khanna is first-rate. Payal Rohtagi is good. Saba, as Rahul's student, is a complete natural.
On the whole, Dil Kabaddi works in bits and spurts, but not in totality. The script suffers mainly because there's no beginning, no middle & no end. Just assemblage of assorted sequences! This movie is strictly for adults viewing.
