Dhaka Court asks Khaleda to appear on April 10 for 11 case hearings

Dhaka [Bangladesh], Mar. 28 : Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been asked by a Dhaka Court to appear before it on April 10 in connection with 11 cases that include sedition and inciting violence.

Dhaka Tribune quoted Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Molla of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court as saying that its next order would be different if Khaleda failed to appear before it on due date.

Petitions submitted by Khaleda's counsel Md Sanaullah Miah before the court mention that his client could not appear before the court as she is not well.

The court has earlier warned Khaleda that it will issue arrest warrant against her if she failed to appear before it.

The Dhaka Court had granted Khaleda bail in 11 cases after she surrendered before it last year. Of the 11 cases, eight cases of inciting violence were filed with Dhaka's Darus Salam Police Station, two with the Jatrabarhi police.

Awami League Working Committee member and Supreme Court Advocate Momtaz Uddin Ahmed had filled the sedition case at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
