International motor show kicks off in S.Korea's Busan city
Posted online: Friday, May 25, 2012 at 9:59:31 PM

Seoul (South Korea), May 25 (Xinhua-ANI): The Busan International Motor Show kicked off on Friday in South Korea's southern port city of Busan, with about 170 vehicles from 22 domestic and foreign makers on display.

The number of cars displayed at the 6th edition far exceeds the 109 vehicles that were showcased at the 2010 event, making this year's show the largest-ever in scale.

A total of eight South Korean automakers, including Hyundai Motor, the country's largest automobile manufacturer, participate in the 11-day auto fair, showcasing 11 new models, including two world premieres to be introduced for the first time, three Asian premieres and six South Korean premieres.

The world premieres include the Rexton facelift by Ssangyong Motor and the Restar by Daewoo Bus.

Fourteen import brands, such as Audi and Bentley, take part in the event in contrast to the previous show in 2010, which saw the participation of only two foreign carmakers.

The foreign brands present two Asian premieres and 16 South Korean premieres.

Under the theme of "The Voyage of the Green Car across the Ocean, the show also features environmentally friendly vehicles reflecting the growing importance of eco-friendliness and energy efficiency in the era of green cars.

Organizers expect that the biennial event, which will continue until June 3, will attract more than one million visitors. (Xinhua-ANI)
