'Positive' Button confident ahead of British GP despite horror run in season

London, June 26: McLaren driver Jensen Button has expressed confidence of performing well at the upcoming British Grand Prix, and has vowed to bring his season back on the right track at Silverstone.
Button finished down in eighth place at the European Grand Prix in Valencia, while teammate Lewis Hamilton was caught in a collision with Pastor Maldonado.
But Button, who is eighth in the Formula One drivers' championship, is confident McLaren will be back on the pace for the British Grand Prix in just under a fortnight's time.
"We're good at high speed, that's our strength. Our weakness is low speed, so that shouldn't be an issue at Silverstone," The Sun quoted Button, as saying.
"I'm going there positive. I know that I'm a long way behind in the championship but it's still possible to win it," he added.
"In all honesty, though, I'm not really thinking about that. I'm just thinking about going to my home grand prix and driving a fast-flowing circuit, which hopefully our car should work well on," he said.
Button is also certain McLaren can close the difference in pace compared to rivals Red Bull, and with reigning champions Sebastian Vettel finishing without points at Valencia, the McLaren does hold a good chance if they win the British GP.
"Red Bull had their upgrades in Valencia and most people will be getting theirs for the next race. They were phenomenally quick in the race and it was unexpected. Seb's pace was phenomenal," Button said.
"We've got to look for our next big step. If we're going to have a good result, then Silverstone is the place to have it," he added.
