Schumacher says he would have been fighting for championship had luck favored him
Posted online: Saturday, June 09, 2012 at 10:01:45 PM

London, June 9: Seven times world champion Michael Schumacher believes he would have been leading the Formula One drivers table had luck been on his end.

Mercedes driver Schumacher, who has won seven times at the Canadian Grand Prix, is hoping the seventh race of this season would prove lucky for him after retiring in four of the six races so far.

"I think I have been very unfortunate this year. There is an interesting calculation that if you take all the points from where I stopped in the races and retired, including Monaco where I would have been leading the race, then I would be leading this championship," The Sun quoted Schumacher, as saying.

"In reality, I have only two points and there is no explanation for the bad luck. It is just circumstances that happen. I am realistic and know I will not be fighting for this championship but I will still be fighting for victories," he added.

"I have I have no answers why. Probably, I am still a master at high-speed corners. That is one of my strengths. I predicted Montreal would be good for us and I still believe that. I am pretty sure we will be contenders for victory," he said.
