Chennai, Sept 23 (ANI/Business Wire India): Sify Technologies Limited, a leader in Consumer Internet and Enterprise Services in India with global delivery capabilities, announced today that its MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network infrastructure now extends to over 500 cities in India, making it one of the largest such networks in the country.
This state-of-the-art network, designed, architected and operated as per global standards, empowers Sify customers with unprecedented reach and resilience in India. While seamlessly supporting converged multi-play services for a wide range of customer needs- including enterprises, carriers and consumers.
Commenting on this achievement, Arvind Mathur, Chief Architect, Sify Technologies Limited, said, "Our network engineering and operations teams have done a commendable job of doubling the number of cities covered by the MPLS backbone infrastructure in just twelve months. Our network reach of over 500 cities is supported by more than 4500 access sectors to ensure adequate coverage. While this is an important achievement for Sify, it is a momentary milestone in the expansion of our network to far beyond this number of cities".
Sify also implemented Cisco's CRS-1 (Carrier Routing System) in its IP Next Generation Network (NGN) Core recently. This makes Sify the first operator in the country to have deployed the powerful and advanced CRS-1 core network element that will pave the way for enhanced capabilities, reliability and scalability for multi-play services. It will also serve as a platform to rollout bandwidth intensive applications in the future.
Arvind Mathur added, "Our enhanced network reach is just one of the four dimensions of our network evolution towards true IP Next Generation Network architecture that will encompass:
-- A multi-play IP network with intelligent routing
-- Superior analytics and billing
-- Integrated 'in-the-cloud' security
-- Native application-awareness
