Suresh Kumar to continue as Karnataka Law Minister after AG clean chit
Posted online: Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 4:31:08 PM

Bangalore, June 26 : Karnataka Law Minister S. Suresh Kumar today decided to withdraw his resignation after the Advocate-General gave him a clean chit in connection with the charges levelled against him that he secured a residential site in violation of rules.

"I had given this resignation letter with the firm view that this story should not cause embarrassment to my party and my government. Today after the Advocate General's opinion and after the request of the chief minister and my Cabinet colleagues and the party leaders I have decided to bow down my head to their direction. I have decided not to press for my resignation and re-join the Cabinet," he told the media here.

"Today morning honourable chief minister had called me and in the light of Advocate General's opinion after due review, inspection of all the documents. So I should join him in the Cabinet," he added.

Expressing delight following the Advocate General's conclusion into the concerned matter, Kumar said the copy received by him proves that he was in no way ineligible to get the 'G-category' (Chief Minister's discretionary quota) site.

"Today morning I received the legal opinion as has been given by the Advocate General. Chief Minister had asked the Advocate General to verify all the documents, all the records and give his considered opinion. Today, I received the copy in which he has categorically said that I have not done anything to suppress the truth, nor have I made a false statement. So, he has also said that in no way I am ineligible to get that G-category site," he said

The Advocate General, who was asked to go into documents and give his opinion on any violation in site allotment by Bangalore Development Authority under 'G' category, has categorically said that it was done in accordance with rules.

Suresh Kumar also thanked the various political leaders, who stood by him during the entire episode.
