Woman Maoist cadre surrenders before police in Chhattisgarh
Posted online: Monday, August 20, 2012 at 8:46:38 PM

Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh), Aug 20 : Disillusioned by the system and practices of Maoists, a woman cadre surrendered before police here on Monday.

Ramdai, had joined hands with the rebels three years ago and was working with platoon no. 17 across the district.

She was involved in several incidents of violence including a recent encounter with security forces.

Over a period of time Ramdai got disturbed with the violent and unfair methods of functioning of the Maoists and hence decided to give up arms.

According to senior police officials, Ramdai ran away from the Maoist camp and took shelter in a village before finally approaching the local police for surrender.

"She surrendered before the police last evening. After which the rebel informed that she was distressed due to the wrong practices prevalent amongst the ultras. She willingly surrendered before the police," said Shashimohan Singh, Narayanpur's District Superintendent of Police.

He added that all kinds of assistance will be provided to the rebels under the government's rehabilitation programme.

"As per the rehabilitation policies of the government every possible aid would be provided to her," Singh said.
