Raja
Cast:
Ajith, Jyothika, Priyanka Trivedi, Sonu, Vadivelu
Music: S.A.Rajkumar
Director: Ezhil
Ajith resorts to a love-based movie in 'Raja'
after his recent tragedy with 'Red' in which he
attempted to play a 'Goonda'.
Raja (Ajith) is a college student. Priya (Jyothika)
who studies in a neighbouring college falls in love with him at first sight. She
sends a message of her love to Raja through her college-mate, Priya Mahalakshmi
(Priyanka Trivedi), who is Raja's neighbour.
Priya Mahalakshmi, a shy Brahmin girl, conveys the love message to Raja in a
very confusing and shy manner. Raja mistakes Priya Mahalakshmi to be in love
with him, due to the similarity in the names of the two girls.
Just as Raja's love for the wrong girl builds, Mahalakshmi gets killed by the
college rowdy Bhavani (Sonu). Raja's heart breaks
and he returns to his native village, without the knowledge that the original
love message had come from another girl Priya, whom he had never met.
Meanwhile, Priya's marriage is arranged. With whom? You guessed right,
Bhavani, the villain of course. Priya runs away from home and reaches Raja's
house in his village. She claims to be a girl in trouble and seeks his refuge. A
little later, she tells him how she had fallen in love with him. Raja finds it
difficult to cope with the truth and is unable to accept her love for him.
Then how does the movie end? Very simple. Bhavani comes in, fights with Raja
and loses. Raja joins hands with Priya as soon as he rescues her from Bhavani.
Raja is a very average movie. With the mediocre story he has adopted,
director Ezhil should have woven a more engaging
screenplay to have made the movie interesting. But he hasn't. S.A.Rajkumar's
music is awful.
Ajith has paid more attention to comedy this time and has managed to pull off
some interesting comic sequences with Vadivelu. Jyothika
is just the same, and quite clearly reaching the end of her top-star status. One
of the positive points in the movie is Priyanka Trivedi
who is pretty and attractive.
Ajith will manage to get away with this!
