Jeeva (Aryan Rajesh) is a young college student who has more interest in poetry and
communism than his studies. His middle class father Ranganathan (Balachandra
Menon) is unable to tolerate his activities and this often causes arguments and
bitter feelings between the father and son.
Ranganathan works as a clerk and also assists Annachi (Vijayakumar), a
merchant, in keeping his accounts. Annachi is cheated by Nizhalgal Ravi and is
forced to sell his house. Ranganathan helps Annachi and finds a house for
Annachi#$#s family near his own house.
Annachi#$#s daughter Viji (Sruthika) gradually falls in love with Jeeva. But
Jeeva doesn#$#t show interest.
One day, the routine argument between Jeeva and his father heats up which
results in Jeeva leaving the house. He moves to Chennai and finds a good job.
Away from home and Viji, he realises how much he misses her and eventually
discovers his love for her.
Nizhalgal Ravi interferes once again between the two families and humiliates
them saying that Jeeva and Viji are lovers. The young couple hide their love to
their families and decide to part, feeling that if they confess their love, it
would bring shame and disgrace to both the families.
Meanwhile, Ranganathan feels guilty that he was responsible for having driven
his son out of their house. He leaves to Chennai and visits his son. The reunion
between the father and son is very sentimental. What happens after that, whether
Jeeva and Viji join hands in marriage or not, forms the rest of the story.
"Album" is a soft movie dealing about two families. Director
Vasanthabalan has dealt with family sentiments in a remarkable manner. The
bonding between Annachi and Ranganathan and their families is depicted
beautifully.
Karthik Raja#$#s music is a big support to the movie. The music director has
excelled in the songs as well as the background music. Aryan Rajesh, a Telugu
actor, debuts in this film. His acting is mediocre. On the other hand, Sruthika
(Thengai Srinivasan#$#s grand daughter) as his ladylove and as Annachi#$#s daughter
has put in an impressive show. The performances by veteran actors Balachandra
Menon and Vijayakumar make the flow of the movie smooth and delightful.
Pleasant family entertainer!
