Mudumalai
Sanctuary
Mudumalai Sanctuary is situated among mixed and moist deciduous forests. It also has a variety of
forests like tropical, semi evergreen, and tropical, dry deciduous forests. The area of the
sanctuary is 321 sq. km. The picturesque Mysore-Ooty road passes through the
sanctuary. It
border's Bandipur National Park in Karnataka and Wynad Sanctuary in Kerala.

The wildlife found in the sanctuary are Elephants, Gaur, Chital,
Sambar, Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bears, Wild Dogs (Dhole). The best season to visit
Mudumalai will be from March to June or from September to October. Elephants and
vehicles are available on hire. Accommodation is available at the Rest House. The nearest
town is Gudalur, which is 16 km away. Permission to visit the sanctuary can be obtained
from the Wildlife Warden, Coonoor Road,Udagamandalam-643001
