Tsonga surges back into ATP top 10

Johannesburg [South Africa], Feb.27 : French tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga surged back to the world's top 10 in the latest men's tennis rankings issued by the ATP on Monday.

The 31-year-old's upward move in the rankings came after he defeated compatriot Lucas Pouille 6-4, 6-4 to lift his third title at the Open 13.

Tsonga climbed up four places to the seventh spot, his highest ranking since June last year. Pouille, on the other hand, also saw gain in his ranking. He moved up by two places up to 15th spot while Austria's Dominic Thiem slumped one spot to ninth despite winning the title in Rio de Janeiro.

British tennis star Andy Murray remains on top with 11,540 points and maintains a comfortable lead of 1805 points over Novak Djokovic, with neither of them in action last week.
