Bengaluru, July 12 : Two passenger planes of budget airline Indigo averted a collision in Bengaluru airspace on Tuesday when they were at an altitude of over 27,000 feet, the airline said on Thursday.
"The traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) was triggered on two of our aircraft operating on the routes Coimbatore-Hyderabad and Bengaluru-Kochi on Tuesday," an airline statement said.
The aircraft pilots were alerted through their on-board systems averting a possible disaster.
"The A320 aircraft of Indigo were at an altitude of over 27,000 feet, some distance away from the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, when the pilots on board were alerted to the presence of the other by on-board systems," the Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said in a statement.
The matter was subsequently reported to civil aviation regulatory body Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), it added.
