AAP would provide stand-up comedy instead of governance: Congress

New Delhi [India], Sept. 5 : Firing a fresh salvo, the Congress on Monday alleged that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would provide stand-up comedy instead of governance if it comes to power in Punjab.

Commenting on the appointment of Gurpreet Ghuggi as the AAP Punjab convenor, Congress leader Manish Tewari told ANI that the tragedy of the Shiromanli Akali Dal-led state is from sublime to the ridiculous.

"The people of Punjab should ask themselves that do they require stand-up comedy in place of governance.

It is rarely a travesty. In fact, the Aam Aadmi Party mocks the people of Punjab by trying to substitute governance what Punjab requires, by stand-up comedy," he added.

Ghuggi was yesterday appointed as the Punjab convener in place of Sucha Singh Chhotepur, who was removed from the post after a video clip surfaced showing him allegedly taking bribes in exchange for poll tickets.

Ghuggi had started his career as an actor with small roles in Doordarshan serials and tele-films. He shot to fame after participating in comedy-based reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Ghuggi was the second stand-up comedian to join the AAP after Bhagwant Mann..
