Afghan army chief to visit India next week, eyes more Mi-25 helicopters

Kabul, Aug. 23 : Afghan National Army (ANA) chief of staff General Qadam Shah Shaheem is scheduled to visit New Delhi next week and is expected to ask for the delivery of more Mi-25 gunship helicopters from India.

Reports suggest that General Shaheem will hand over a wish list of Afghanistan that will include more Mi-25 gunship helicopters, small choppers and medical emergencies as well as spares for the existing Russian-origin aircraft.

New Delhi in December 2015 had started the delivery of lethal military equipment to the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.

The Afghan Air Force received 3 of the 4 Mi-25 gunship helicopters then which coincided with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the country.
