New Delhi [India], Mar. 15 : Indian handlooms weaved its magic on the runway on day one of the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2017 that is being held in the national capital.
Playing with hues of white and grey on pants, skirts, tops and dresses, designers like Neeru Kumar, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Rohit Bal and Suket Dhir gave a fine show of the handlooms.
The event, which was graced by Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani, saw the de-glammed models ditch their heels to sashay down the lawn-like runway barefoot.
The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), in keeping with its commitment of staying true to the Indian ethos, dedicated the first day of the fashion extravaganza to the celebrations of indigenous handlooms and textiles.
In the opening show, FDCI and The Handloom School - supported by Good Earth, acknowledged the anonymous makers who create magic with thread, featuring insightful ensembles from 13 illustrated designers.
The event is being held from March 15-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road..
