Ansari meets Armenian PM Karapetyan

Yerevan [Armenia], April 25 : Vice President Hamid Ansari met Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan on Tuesday.

Vice President Ansari will also call on President Serzh Sargsyan on the second day of his visit to Armenia today.

He is also scheduled to meet Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian later in the day. Earlier, Vice President Ansari arrived in Armenia on the first leg of his two nation trip. He was received by Nalbandian at the airport. Vice President Ansari is accompanied by his wife Salma Ansari, Union Minister of State Small, Medium and Micro Industry Giriraj Singh, MP Sitaram Yechuri, MP Vivek Tankha, MP D P Tripathi and MP Thustan Chhuwang.

The visit intends to further strengthen the cordial relations between the two countries and develop cooperation and partnership on a wide range of issues of shared common interest.

Ansari will also address students and faculty at the Yerevan University. The Ambassador of India will host a reception in the honor of the Vice President where he is expected to meet the Indian community and friends of India in Poland.

His visit comes at a time when India and Armenia are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Vice President Ansari, earlier, while addressing the media onboard Air India One Special Aircraft on his way to Armenia said that the objective of his visit to Armenia and Poland is to further the friendship and cooperation.

Vice President Ansari is on a five day two nation tour to Armenia and Poland..
