Federer believes floundering Djokovic `clearly beatable` at Wimbledon

Johannesburg, July.2 : With Novak Djokovic facing threat of an early elimination from the All-England Club, 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer believes that the world number one is `clearly beatable` at the ongoing Wimbledon Championship. The two-time defending champion will aim to bounce back from two sets down when he resume his third round match against big-hitting Sam Querry on Saturday. The Serbian was trailing 7-6 (8/6), 6-1 before rain suspended the play. Reflecting on Djokovic’s shocking performance, Federer said that defeating the Serbian was not impossible, pointing out that a player cannot win straight 200 matches in tennis, Sport24 reported. However, the Swiss maestro, who stormed into the fourth round, believes that Djokovic could fight his way out of this situation while acknowledging the world number one’s track record in Grand Slams. Last year, Djokovic found himself in similar circumstances as he was two sets down before rallying past big-hitting Kevin Anderson in the next three sets to reach the quarterfinals. Djokovic, the 12-time Grand Slam winner, will level with Rod Laver’s mark of 31 successive major wins if overcomes Querry.

BJP ticks off Shiv Sena for cornering PM Modi on black money row

New Delhi, June 29 : The BJP on Wednesday snubbed the Shiv Sena for training guns at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the black money issue and said it was strange that the party generating black money every year courtesy the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was coming up with such baseless charges. “It is a shocking surprise that Shiv Sena, which controls Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation is generating black money every year –out of Rs. 35,000 crore Rs. 6,000-Rs. 7,000 crore is generated out and then they talk about the black money issue,” BJP’s Kirit Somaiya told ANI. Lauding the Prime Minister’s efforts, Somaiya said the new generation of black money is being dealt harshly. “Some time has been given to declare black money. In the first phase, we will stop corruption and recover the black money,” he added. Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna yesterday chided Prime Minister Modi for the Centre’s delay in unearthing the black money stashed abroad. Commenting on the Prime Minister’s latest ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address, the Saamna article said, “During the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Prime Minister had promised that black money stashed abroad for decades would be brought back. Following this every Indian will be richer by at least Rs 15 lakh. Now, Modi’s detractors are asking questions about the fulfilment of the poll assurance.” Pointing out that black money could be found chiefly in politics, the article added that the country’s electoral system was rooted in black money. “Why are captains of industry needed for the Rajya Sabha election? Why do political parties need captains of industry to defeat each other in such elections?” Saamna asked and said the country was awash with black money. “There is no need to go to Switzerland or Mauritius looking for black money. The Prime Minister should be given some time to fulfil his promise on black money,” it added.

Pak is isolated, needs to change its foreign policy: senior journalist

Islamabad, June 29 : Stating that Pakistan is lagging behind economically, senior journalist Zahid Hussein pointed out that Islamabad has become isolated which is why there is a need for re-examining the country’s foreign policy. Speaking at a seminar titled “Is Pakistan Isolated? Regional Challenges and Opportunities’ hosted by the Institute for Policy Reforms (IPR) yesterday, Hussein presented examples of India and China, saying the two countries have progressed, have focused on their economies and added that Islamabad has to change its course. “The current government has made policies for economic development, but they are yet to be implemented because Pakistan’s foreign policy is driven by national security. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor could be a game changer,” Dawn quoted him as saying. He also compared Pakistan’s economic growth with that of India and China saying Islamabad’s rate has been 3pc for the last 10 years with that of India the economy of which has been growing by 8pc. “Pakistan has been left far behind, even by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh,” he added. However, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi disagreed with Hussein’s observation and said the current foreign policy is relevant to the needs at the time. Fatemi said that no foreign policy can be called a complete success or failure. “The PML-N’s manifesto said that the foreign policy will focus on the economy. We have tried to have good relations with Afghanistan because we believe there will be no peace in Pakistan until there is peace in Afghanistan,” he said. Asserting that Pakistan wants good relations with India and that the PML-N led government wanted to resume relations from how they were in 1999, he said that the sentiment has to be reciprocal for this to work. “We have good relations with Arab countries and 100,000 Pakistanis will be sent to Qatar for employment. As far as the Nuclear Supplier Group is concerned, Pakistan has been working on this for months and though the application was given at the last moment, 11 countries supported Pakistan. This was all because of diplomacy,” he added. Meanwhile, eminent historian and author of ‘Pakistan, a Hard Country’, Prof Anatol Lieven was of the opinion that though the U.S. hostility has increased, China continues to support Pakistan and warned that this support must not be taken as a carte blanche. “No country wants Pakistan to cross the line between sheltering the Afghan Taliban and arming them. Pakistan will forfeit all goodwill if this were to happen. It is desirable to revive the peace talks,” he said.

YouTube MCN ‘Whacked Out Media’ hits 500 million views

New Delhi, June 6 : Asia’s biggest YouTube multi-channel networks Whacked Out Media has surpassed the 500 million monthly views milestone on YouTube. It is definitely no small feat for a company which started off monetizing it’s own content on the platform back in 2011. Five years since, Whacked out has placed itself among the top MCNs of YouTube, serving hundreds of partners and creators. With some stunning statistics like total watch-time of a whopping 1.6 billion minutes in May, Whacked Out trusts its organic strategies. This is done through directly engaging with the video and social communities without any paid advertising at all. A strong presence on social media alongside the right SEO strategy – this remains the core reason for their phenomenal growth on digital media so far. Another part of their success story comes from strategic partnerships with competent content creators like Kalaipuli S. Thanu (V creations), PVP Global, Bosskey TV etc., helping the total views per month to cross 511 million last month. It goes without saying, that the V Creations’ Kabali teaser, which went on to become the highest watched Indian teaser of all time with over 20 million views, had the creative genius of Whacked Out behind its video promotion strategy. Their other top performers include PVP Global (Brahmotsavam), Nursery Rhymes Channel and Telugu FilmNagar. When asked about reaching this milestone, Rama Krishna Veerapaneni, the Managing Director of Whacked Out Media said, “We started with a vision on YouTube in 2011 and have now grown to be one of the largest partners of YouTube in the APAC region. We have half a billion YouTube views across our channels and for us, every view and watched minute counts. Whacked Out has always grown organically along with its partners.” Whacked Out has been creating, publishing and distributing content on YouTube and other platforms consistently and effectively for half a decade now and it shows no signs of stopping. It is also a major player in Audience Development on Social Media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. These are organically leveraged to develop audiences for their YouTube Channels rather than paid advertising.
