Bayliss expects Buttler to ‘stay out of trouble’ post reprimand

Johannesburg [South Africa], Oct.11 :England coach Trevor Bayliss has said that he expects stand-in skipper Jos Buttler to stay out of trouble after being given an official warning for his on-field behaviour during the side's 34-run defeat in the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla in Dhaka on Sunday.

"It is not the first time we have seen it in international cricket and probably won't be the last. He (Buttler) got a slap on the wrist and I am sure he will be doing his best to stay out of trouble in the future," the coach was quoted as saying by Sport24.

Buttler was seen engaging in an argument with Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza and his team-mate Sabbir Rahman after being given out for 57 by a television review following an on-field umpire turned down the leg-before appeal of Taskin Ahmed.

While Mortaza and Rahman were fined 20 percent of their match fees for overstepping in their celebrations following the England's skipper dismissal, Buttler was merely given a warning for breaching level one of the ICC's code of conduct.

All three players admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by the ICC match referee, Javagal Srinath, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing.

Although Bayliss said that he has no problem with Buttler standing up for himself, he urged the 26-year-old not to cross the line.

"I have nothing against questioning or standing up for yourself but just the way we do approach it and what we do say.

It is in front of a worldwide audience and we are all there as role models for the young kids coming through," he said.

Bayliss, however, defended Buttler's reaction and said that the electric atmosphere in the sub-continent often brings out extra passion in a tense game.

"I think when playing in the sub-continent with the crowds and the heat and that type of thing some of these things can get out of proportion a little bit.

We have got to be on the look out to make sure it does not distract us from the way we want to play the game and concentrating on what we do," the coach insisted.

The three-match ODI series is currently levelled at 1-1, with the third and final match slated to be played in Chittagong on Wednesday.
