BJP-RSS people don’t understand Indian mythology: Yogendra Yadav

New Delhi [India], Apr. 2 : Swaraj Abhiyan member Yogendra Yadav on Sunday backed his colleague Prashant Bhushan against whom a complaint has been filed for his alleged 'inflammatory tweets' against Lord Krishna and said that people in the BJP and RSS have never understood Indian culture and mythology.

Yadav alleged that it was a deliberate attempt on part of the BJP and RSS to crate this unwarranted controversy.

"I think more than political; there is a deep cultural reason for that. And the cultural reason is that these BJP-RSS people have never understood Indian culture. They do not understand Indian classics, they don't understand Indian mythology.they do not understand that Krishna of Mahabharata and Krishna of Raas Leele are the same," he told ANI.

"Let them go to court. I do hope that the court would understand what a statement is, what an irony is, what a parody is and what a satire is," he added.

Yadav further said it is a straight forward tweet in the context of Uttar Pradesh romeo brigade campaign.

"Any boy and girl seen together are caught, brother and sisters are being taken to police stations in that context.

Prashant ji has this satire and he says that if absurd logic of Romeo brigade is to be followed than even lord Krishna will appear in their eyes as eve teasers.

That's basically what he is implying and he has clarified that," said Yadav. "Romeo is not a criminal. In our culture, we have ranjha, majnu (and) these are not criminals. If you want to prevent harassment of women and criminality against women, the solution is not to criminalize any relationship between boy and a girl.

That is the simple thing that he is saying," he added. Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Tajinder Bagga on Sunday filed a complaint against senior lawyer and former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan for his 'derogatory' tweet against Lord Krishna.

Speaking to ANI, Bagga said it is Bhushan's habit to make these kinds of statements for cheap publicity.

"This is not the first time that he (Prashant Bhushan) has given these kinds of statements. At times he says Kashmir should be given to Pakistan and at times he gives statements on Bharatiya Sena and then at times he says the Bharatiya Sena rapes.

Then he alleges that the Bharatiya Sena thrashes the innocents," he added. Lawyer advocate Prashant Bhushan triggered a storm today after he weighed in on the Uttar Pradesh government's Anti-Romeo squads with a tweet that was seen as insulting to Lord Krishna.
