Bollywood sequels do not retain originality, feels Arjun Rampal

New Delhi [India], Sept. 3 : Actor Arjun Rampal candidly pointed out that 90 percent sequels of Bollywood movies do not hold on to the originality of its characters and continuity in circumstances.

"The sad part is that today 90 percent of the sequels that are being made in this country don't even retain those characters, characters change, their names change and then you say 'ohh it's a sequel'," averred the 43-year-old actor during the official trailer release of his upcoming 'Rock On 2'.

"That's not how a sequel is. The Spiderman cannot become Superman and the Superman cannot become a Batman. I think 'Rock on' has been true to that and true to all its characters," he added. Actress Prachi Desai, who was also a part of the first franchise, on her part said there is no space for comparison.

When asked if she has any competition with her co-star Shraddha Kapoor, she immediately responded, "Was there any comparison between the four boys in the first film, I'm sure there wasn't, I don't think there's ever space for that.

"I think everybody amazingly well fits into the roles they are doing and I truly believe that we are meant for it.

I don't think anybody else could be have been Joy or anybody could have been Jiya or Adi or Sakshi, and you have to watch the film to believe what each one brings to it," she said.

Directed by Shujaat Saudagar, the movie also featuring Farhan Akhtar, Purab Kohli and Shraddha Kapoor is slated to release on November 11.
