Confident AAP says Punjab looking for ‘political alternative’

New Delhi [India], Mar. 11 : Confident of forming a government in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said the people of Punjab are yearning for change and are looking for a political alternative in the state, which for them is only Arvind Kejriwal's AAP.

AAP leader Raghav Chadha told ANI that the kind of resentment and anger the people of Punjab have towards the Akali Dal and the BJP government is unprecedented, and therefore the people are looking for a political alternative which is the AAP.

Chadha further said that the AAP is of the view that the exit polls as well as opinion polls consistently under value the party "Five exit polls have come out, one predicted that AAP will form a government in Punjab, second predicted that Congress will form a government in Punjab and also that Congress and AAP will be neck to neck.

These exit polls have predicted almost every possible outcome. I would only say that it is a matter of only few hours let us wait and watch," he added. The exit polls predicted a close fight in Punjab between the Congress, which is seeking to return to power after 10 years, and Arvind Kejriwal's AAP, making its debut in the state's Assembly elections.

The one certain fact emerging from the exit polls in Punjab is that the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP combine has been decisively thrown out, and the other being that the race between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is too close to call.
