Cyberspace, investments among four agreements, one MoU signed between India, Qatar

New Delhi [India], Dec. 3 : India and Qatar on Saturday signed four agreements in the fields of visas, cyberspace and investments and concluded one memorandum of understanding (MoU) for greater collaboration and exchange in the field of national ports management.

The agreements and MoU were signed after bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Qatar counterpart Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, who arrived here last evening on a two-day India visit.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted: "Four Forward! The leaders witness exchange of four agreements in the fields of visas, cyberspace and investments.

Additionally, another MoU aimed at encouraging greater collab'n (and) exchange in field of national ports management of #IndiaQatar also signed." An agreement on exemption from visa requirement for holders of diplomatic, special and official passports was signed by Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh and Qatar Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, which allows holders of diplomatic, special and official passport of the two countries to visa-free travel between the two countries.

A Protocol on Technical Cooperation in cyber space and combating cyber crime was signed by the Home Minister and Qatar Minister of Transport and Communications Jassem bin Saif Al-Sulaiti, which adds an important dimension of bilateral Technical Cooperation in Cyber Space and Combating Cyber Crime to the existing framework agreement in the field of security signed on 10 November 2008.

A Letter of Intent was signed by Minister of State for Ministry of External Affairs MEA M.J. Akbar and Qatar Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi, which allows negotiations on an agreement on grant of e-visa to businessmen and tourists of the two countries.

An MoU between Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of Qatar and Confederation of Indian Industry was signed by Confederation of Indian Industry Director General Chandrajit Banerjee and Qatar Minister of Finance Ali Sharif Al-Emadi, which will provide framework for project experts for Indian companies in Qatar, including through participation in infrastructure projects in Qatar undertaken for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In addition, on the sidelines of the visit, an MoU was also signed between Qatar Ports Management Company 'Mwani Qatar' and Indian Ports Global Private Limited (IPGPL), which aims at encouraging greater collaboration and exchange in the field of national ports management of both the countries.
