DataWind bags award for outstanding contribution to ‘Make in India Mission’

New Delhi [India], Nov 15 : DataWind Inc the leader in delivering Internet access to emerging markets has been recognized for the Outstanding Contribution to Make in India Mission at the Digital Terminal Conclave 2016, New Delhi.

This Award honours the contribution of companies, organizations, institutes, and individuals among others, who has taken initiatives to render momentum to the socio-economic growth of the nation, enabling India to become a global leader.

Digital Transformation has been the talk of the town for quite some time but majority of India's small businesses have yet to embrace the digital platforms.

This is hampering SMBs from competing at global scale. Keeping this thing in mind, Digital Terminal has planned to organize DT Conclave 2016 in New Delhi on 10 November 2016 at Eros Hotel with an aim to enabling SMBs to understand the importance of digital technologies and help to embrace them.

The conclave has been supported by Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, STPI, MAIT and CMAI.

On receiving the award Suneet Singh Tuli, President and CEO of DataWind said, "We are truly honored and grateful to be recognized by Digital Terminal, as this award validates our vision of Make in India.

The new schemes and taxes now in place have made it beneficial for mobile devices companies to Make in India and Datawind is no exception.

DataWind is soon coming up with another state of the art facility in Hyderabad as we have stopped importing finished products from China." DataWind has always been very vocal about 'Made in India' products.

From the very beginning company has been propagating the cause and has been request Govt. to make manufacturing process easier for those who want to set up their FABS here for computing devices.

It is company's commitment to 'Made in India' thought that it became the first ones, in fact the only ones so far, to set up a facility for manufacturing 'touch panels' in India.

The total investment made in the Amritsar facility was about Rs. 100 cr. Also company has another state of the art assembly facility in Amritsar. Tuli further added "By producing state-of-the-art and most affordable devices in India, we not only wish to supply products that would make Indians proud, but boost skills in India by generating highly skilled employment locally." Over 200 dignitaries were present at the Digital Terminal Conclave 2016 included CMDs, Chairmen, CEOs, COO and senior people from policy formulators, market researchers and industry analysts, handset vendors, operators, OTT players, telecom vendors, VAS providers, consultants/System Integrators/VAR's, trade associations and media amongst others gather to witness the winners of award night and celebrate their success.
