New Delhi/Mumbai [India], Sept. 4 : Launching a blistering attack on the BJP over expelled party leader Dayashankar Singh's derogatory slur against BSP supremo Mayawati, the Congress on Monday alleged this clearly exposes the saffron party's mindset towards a Dalit woman.
Demanding severe action against Dayashankar, All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza said it is not for the first time that the expelled BJP leader has been using such words for the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
"Dayashankar is a member of the BJP and this clearly exposes the BJP's mindset towards a Dalit woman. It is an insult to the entire womanhood which should not be tolerated," Oza told ANI. Meanwhile, social activist and senior lawyer Abha Singh urged the BJP not to provide ticket to the expelled BJP leader and his wife to contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections as his statements are aimed at gaining cheap publicity.
"The party should not only dismiss him from the BJP but also not give him a ticket only then the message will go that BJP believes in respecting women, empowering women," she added while asserting that Mayawati can now file a defamation case against Dayashankar for his unwarranted remark.
Singh further said that Dayashankar should instead of making such cheap statements on television channels should give proof to the investigating agencies against Mayawati.
"If Dayashankar Singh says that she is taking two crores to give a ticket why does not he given prove.
Let him give proof to the vigilance department, to the CBI which can investigate," she added. Dayashankar, who was earlier arrested for making derogatory comments against Mayawati and subsequently booked under the SC/ST Act, on Sunday equated the BSP supremo to a 'dog' and called her a 'coward woman'.
However, he later denied equating Mayawati to a dog. He had earlier in July called Mayawati a "prostitute" while accusing her of selling her party tickets to the highest bidders.
