Delhi BJP leaders meet Puri to fix conversion charge on local shopping centres

New Delhi, Feb 19 : A delegation of Delhi BJP leaders on Monday met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to demanded fixing of the conversion charge applicable on local shopping centers colony, category wise.

The delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was led by its Delhi unit chief and MP Manoj Tiwari and Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, who is an MP from the city.

Beside Tiwari and Harsh Vardhan, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri, East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma and North-West Delhi MP Udit Raj were also present during the meeting.

The BJP leaders apprised Puri about the solutions to the ongoing sealing campaign against commercial establishments in Delhi by the Monitoring Committee constituted by the Supreme Court.



"We urged the Urban Development Minister to allow immediate relief for the traders of Delhi by accepting their demand to fix the conversion charge applicable on Local Shopping Centres, colony, category wise," Tiwari told reporters after the meeting.



"He expressed in principle acceptance of the demand and said that he will ask the officials to make necessary amendment in the conversion charge policy earlier notified by the Centre," added Tiwari, who also represents Delhi North-East parliamentary constituency.



The sealing drive was being carried out against business establishments using residential areas for commercial purposes without paying conversion charges.
