New Delhi [India], Aug. 31 : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi Government on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court judgment as per which the national capital continues to be a Union Territory and the Lieutenant Governor its administrative head.
Earlier this month, the apex court had adjourned the AAP's original suit on wanting administrative control of Delhi which was filed on June 29.
The Delhi Government informed the top court that it will file a Special leave Petition (SLP) against the high court order within a week.
The apex court will hear AAP government's original suit and SLP against the Delhi High Court's judgment on interpretation of Article 239 AA of the Indian Constitution.
Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi has also said that the Delhi Government can't claim two remedies at one time.
The AAP-led government recently suffered a blow as the Delhi High Court had declared that the Lt Governor has administrative control of Delhi.
In a series of tweets, Kejriwal said, "Why centre not clearing names suggested by SC collegium? Does centre want BJP lawyers to be appointed as HC judges?.
Shocking how centre interfering in judiciary and stalling it." He also retweeted many articles and comments on the SC's admonishment to the Centre.
