Doval meets Trump’s NSA- designate to discuss Indo-US ties

Washington,[US] Dec. 20 : National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met United States president-elect Donald Trump's NSA- designate General (Retd.) Michael Flynn recently and discussed about the India- US strategic ties, global and regional issues.

This comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had congratulated Trump on his victory in the US elections.

Appreciating the "friendship" articulated by Trump towards India during his election campaigns, Prime Minister Modi had earlier said that his government looks forward to working with him closely "to take India-US bilateral ties to a new height".

"We look forward to working with you closely to take India-US bilateral ties to a new height. @realDonaldTrump," he tweeted. India-U.S. bilateral relations have developed into a "global strategic partnership", based on shared democratic values and increasing convergence of interests on bilateral, regional and global issues.

The emphasis placed by the Government in India on development and good governance has created opportunity to revive bilateral ties and enhance cooperation.

Regular exchange of high level political visits has provided sustained momentum to bilateral cooperation, while the wide-ranging and ever-expanding dialogue architecture has established a long-term framework for India-U.S.

engagement. The frequency of high-level visits and exchanges between India and the U.S. has gone up significantly as Prime Minister Modi visited the U.S. in September 2014. There is frequent interaction between the leadership of the two countries, including telephone calls and meetings on the sidelines of international summits.
