Fabregas’ decisive goal fires Chelsea to another PL win

Sunderland [UK], Dec.15 : Cesc Fabregas struck a first-half decisive goal as Chelsea edged past Sunderland 1-0 to register their 10th successive victory in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light here on Thursday.

Chelsea remained in possession throughout the first half, but they struggled to break down a well-organised Sunderland defence, goal.com reported.

It was in the 40th minute of the match when Fabregas finally made the breakthrough by steering into the far corner from the edge of the box to ensure Antonio Conte's men kept a firm hold on the Premier League summit.

Although Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford kept the in-form Diego Costa at bay and also made significant saves from Marcos Alonso and Willian in the second half, Chelsea had done enough to continue their exemplary run of form.

With the win, Chelsea moved six points clearer at the top of the Premier League, with 13 wins from 16 games they have played so far.

Chelsea will now lock horns with Crystal Palace on December 17. In another league clash, second-placed Liverpool registered a crushing 3-0 win over Middlesbrough while Tottenham also posted a 3-0 triumph against Hull City.
