New Delhi [India], Oct. 15 : A day after Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav gave a new twist to the family feud by avoiding a direct endorsement of his son Akhilesh Yadav for a second term in office, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Satypal Singh said the ongoing feud within the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh clearly indicates the greed for power.
The former top cop told ANI that the people of Uttar Pradesh are at the moment confused as the Samajwadi Party-led government has failed to live up to their expectations and has emerged as a failure on all fronts.
"They want to mint maximum money through corruption in the family. The family feud is due to the fact that they are aware that Samajwadi Party is not coming to power in the next elections.
Whatever it maybe, time is flying by and that is why these internal feuds are going on," Singh said. "Everybody knows that this is an internal matter of the Samajwadi Party, but when an individual's greed for power becomes apparent then conflicts arise out of small matters and this is the fallout of such friction," he added.
The Samajwadi Party chief yesterday avoided a direct endorsement of his son as the party's chief ministerial candidate in next year's assembly elections.
However, he downplayed speculations of a rift within the ruling party. Addressing the media in Lucknow, Mulayam said the elected MLAs of the party and the parliamentary board would take a final call on the next Chief Minister after the assembly polls.
He also expressed confidence that the Samajwadi Party would emerge victorious in the polls with a thumping majority.
Yadav further said that his party would officially kick-start its election campaign on November 5, the 25th anniversary of the Samajwadi Party's formation.
