India, Tajikistan sign MOU for cooperation in exchange of financial intelligence

New Delhi [India], Dec. 17 : India and Tajikistan on Saturday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the exchange of financial intelligence related to money laundering, related crimes and financing of terrorism.

The MoU was signed between Financial Intelligence Unit of India and the Financial Monitoring Department under the National Bank of Tajikistan.

Another MoU was signed between the Committee of Television and Radio under the Government of Tajikistan and the Prasar Bharati of India for cooperation on Broadcasting in Exchange of Audio Visual Programmes.

A protocol amending the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of India for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income was also signed.

An announcement of initiation of bilateral investment treaty between the two sides also made. The MoUs were signed after wide-ranging talks on bilateral, regional and international issues, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon here.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the close cooperation between the two secular, peace loving, neighbouring countries.

President Rahmon paid a State visit to India from December 14-18 when his official programme included ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, meetings with President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President M.

Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Banquet hosted by President Mukherjee..
