India won’t be quiet on issues concerning defence: Cong on Pampore encounter

New Delhi [India], Oct. 10 : Expressing grave concern over the continuous attack on various army bases from the other side of the border, the Congress Party on Monday urged the BJP-led NDA Government to give a befitting reply to such elements.

In a direct warning to Pakistan, Congress spokesperson Tom Vadakkan said the Asian neighbour must remember that India is not going to be quiet on issues concerning the country's defence.

"This is rather surprising considering the surgical operation, the continuous attack on various army bases, paramilitary forces seems to be a continuing process.

The government must act and act very sharply to give a fitting reply to these elements across the border and tell them that they will get further knocks," Vadakkan told ANI.

Two militants have been killed and four others injured after an encounter broke out between the security forces and militants in South Kashmir's Pampore area.

According to the reports, the injured include two civilians, one paramilitary trooper and one Jammu and Kashmir police personnel.

The encounter broke out after suspected militants attacked a joint police and CRPF patrolling party near Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
