J-K: Officer killed in snow avalanche in Sonamarg, rescue ops underway

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Jan. 25 : An officer of the Indian Army has reportedly been killed after a snow avalanche struck an army camp in Sonamarg area of Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district early this morning.

Eight other army men have been rescued safely. The avalanche struck the army camp at around 5:45 a.m. following which the rescue operations were commenced. "One army personal has died. We will release the name once the next of kin has been notified. All other personnel have been rescued and are safe," said army sources. The rescue operation is on to look for survivors.
