New Delhi [India], Jan. 12 : Congress leader P.C. Chacko on Thursday said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley cannot implement the Goods and Services Tax (GST) without consensus.
"GST is not something which was invented by Arun Jaitley. He has put several dates for the implementation, but could not implement it. Till today GST is not in a position to be implemented by the central government," Chacko said. The central government was thinking from the beginning that they did not need a consensus, he added. "Had there been consensus on GST, its implementation could have been much earlier," he said. On demonetisation issue, he said it has affected growth and halted economic activity in every sphere of life.
