Jennifer Holliday cancels Donald Trump inauguration performance for LGBTQ community

Washington D.C. [USA], Jan. 15 : Actress and singer Jennifer Holliday, whose performance was booked for President-elect Donald Trump's upcoming inauguration concert, has cancelled her appearance due to opposition from the LGBTQ community.

In an open letter obtained by People magazine, the 56-year-old singer wrote, "My only choice must now be to stand with the [LGBTQ] Community and to state unequivocally that I WILL NOT PERFORM FOR THE WELCOME CONCERT OR FOR ANY OF THE INAUGURATION FESTIVITIES!" Holliday also apologized, in the letter, for her "lapse of judgement", for being "uneducated on the issues" and for causing "such dismay and heartbreak" to her fans.

The 'Dreamgirls' star was earlier announced as a performer for Trump's inaugural function titled 'Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration', which will be held at the Lincoln Memorial on January 19.
