Jharkhand celebrating birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, 17th state formation day

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], Nov. 15 : The Jharkhand Government is celebrating the birth anniversary of noted freedom fighter Birsa Munda and 17th state formation day today.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings on the formation day of Jharkhand and wished for development of the state.

"I pay homage to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary and recall his courage (and) efforts towards empowerment of tribal communities," he also tweeted.

The state was carved out of Bihar in year 2000 by then Atal Bihari Bajpayee government at the Centre. The main function will be held at a stadium in Morhabadi, Ranchi from 10:30 a.m., in which state Governor Daupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Raghuwar Das, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Ministers for State Jayant Sinha and Sudershan Bhagat will participate.

On this occasion, the state government has planned large scale public campaign through various media to make people aware about various welfare schemes.
