Jolly LLB 2 case: Fox Star Studios agrees to withdraw its plea from SC

New Delhi [India], Feb. 7 : 'Jolly LLB-2' makers Fox Star Studios on Tuesday agreed to withdraw its plea from the Supreme Court.

The Bombay High Court had in its order said that the film had to cut four scenes. To this, the petitioner agreed to withdrew the plea from the apex court. The apex court was hearing the plea filed by Fox Star Studios challenging the Bombay High Court's order, which had ordered a three-member committee to watch the movie and submit a report.

Petitioner Ajaykumar Waghmare had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court alleging that certain scenes in the movie illegally depict the judiciary and the legal professional in a poor light.

After hearing his plea, the High Court had directed a three-member committee to watch the movie and submit a report.

He had prayed that the word 'LLB' be dropped from the title of the movie and the scenes depicting the profession in bad light be deleted.

Earlier, the apex court had stated that it will let the Bombay High Court decide first. In 2013 also, the original Jolly LLB, starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, faced the same problems from lawyers in Meerut.

The Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi starrer movie which is a sequel of 2013, Jolly LLB movie is scheduled to be released on February 10.

The movie, which will feature Akshay in the role of a lawyer, also stars Saurabh Shukla and Annu Kapoor.
