Kerala: 25 injured, two critical in Sabarimala temple stampede

Sabarimala (Kerala) [India], Dec. 26 : As many as 25 persons were injured and two among them are critical in Sabarimala temple stampede that took place last night in Kerala.

All the injured persons have been admitted to a nearby hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team responded immediately to the situation following the incident.

Strict regulations have been put in place for entry of pilgrims at the temple. The shrine witnessed a heavy rush of devotees yesterday, the penultimate day before culmination of the 41-day mandala pooja.

The stampede occurred just as the holy 'Thanga Angi' procession carrying ornaments worn by Lord Ayyappa on yesterday's Mandala pooja reached the temple.
