Lt. Gen Nimbhorkar assures of negating all infiltration bids of Pak

Poonch (J-K), Aug. 24 : General Officer Commanding (GOC) 16 Corps Lieutenant General R.R. Nimbhorkar has said that the troops in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, falling under the command of his corps, haven't allowed any infiltration bid from Pakistan to succeed and they are determined not to allow such attempts to succeed in future also.

"The job of Pakistan is to do infiltration and they will work in that direction. Our job is to make that unsuccessful. For this, we keep on changing our tactics from time to time. We keep on strengthening ourselves. For the last three years, there have been no reports of any infiltration in Pir Panjal," Nimbhorkar told the media here.

Lieutenant General Nimbhorkar said the militants have made lots of attempts to enter into the Indian Territory from the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch Districts during the past few months, but the troops haven't allowed the militants to succeed.

"We know Pakistan will constantly try to infiltrate and we will negate all their attempts. There are many reasons of ceasefire violation. Last year till September 21, there was constant firing. After that there was a flag meeting between the two nations and some decisions were taken," he added. He pointed out that during the past three years, there had been no successful infiltration attempt by the militants from the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch though several attempts have been made from across the LoC to push the militants into this side.

"We can't say what their intention behind that is. May be someone is misunderstood. There can be many reasons. 17 launching pads are active opposite the Line of Control. Their infiltration bid in 15-16 corp is not successful," he added..
