Munro, bowlers guide Kiwis to T20 series win against B’desh

Maunganui [New Zealand], Jan. 6 : Colin Munro struck a quick-fire century before bowlers came to the fore as New Zealand registered a 47-run win over Bangladesh in the second T20I at the Bay Oval here on Friday to clinch the three-match series 2-0 with one game to spare.

After being asked to bat first, Munro smashed seven boundaries and seven sixes in his 54-ball knock of 101 runs.

He also shared a crucial 123-run partnership with Tom Bruce (59) for the fifth wicket to propel his side to a respectable total of 195 runs.

In reply, Bangladesh were restricted to 148 runs in their stipulated 20 overs despite some resistance by Sabbir Rahman (48) and Soumya Sarkar (39).

Ish Sodhi was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand for his figures of three for 36 while skipper Kane Williamson and Ben Wheeler scalped two wickets each.

Mitchell Santner and Trent Boult also shared two wickets between themselves. New Zealand, who won the opening match by six wickets, will now play the inconsequential third T20 against Bangladesh at the same venue on January 8.
