Anoeta [Spain], Jan. 20 : Barcelona star striker Neymar's first half penalty helped his side defeat Real Sociedad 1-0 for the first time since 2007 in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, ending their curse at the Anoeta.
Neymar converted a penalty kick in the 21st minute as Barcelona ended an eight-game winless streak. Barcelona had lost five and drawn three of their previous eight visits to Anoeta, reports goal.com. In the entire game, such was the dominance of Barca that Real Sociedad failed to even get a shot on goal.
The Luis Enrique's side, seeking a third consecutive Copa crown, are now in a strong position to progress ahead of the second leg at Camp Nou next Thursday.
