Pak must act on terrorists carrying out attacks in the ‘region’: U.S.

Washington D.C., Aug 17 : Re-iterating its call for dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad, the United States has called on Pakistan to take action against terrorists from carrying out acts of terror, not just in Pakistan, but in neighbouring region as well.

Addressing a press conference here, State Department Secretary Mark Toner said that the U.S will benefit greatly from the dialogue between the hostile nations and encouraged India, Pakistan to engage in talks.

"We would encourage greater dialogue and counterterrorism cooperation between both Pakistan and India.

We've said that many times. It's for the good of both countries; it's for the good of the region. Frankly, it's for the benefit of the United States," Toner said. Asserting that it's important that Pakistan do the utmost to prevent terrorists from carrying out acts of terror - not just in Pakistan, but elsewhere in the region, he further said that it's important that there's greater collaboration and greater dialogue.

"And we would encourage any effort in that regard," Toner added. Meanwhile, after India insisting that it would discuss only Pakistan occupied Kashmir with Islamabad, Prime Minister's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Friday that Pakistan plans to invite India for a dialogue on Kashmir issue.

Earlier, Union Minister Rajnath Singh had addressed Parliament on the Kashmir issue and said that India was willing to discuss only PoK with Pakistan, asserting that discussing Jammu and Kashmir with Islamabad was out of the question.

In his Independence Day speech on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India's humanity and said even the Baloch people in Pakistan have thanked him for his firm stand against terror and for highlighting attacks against them by people within Pakistan.

"People of Balochistan, Gilgit and PoK have thanked me a lot in past few days, I am grateful to them. In Parliament there were tears for all the innocents killed in Peshawar in the terror attack there by Pakistanis.

Indian children were traumatized. This is the example of our humanity, but there are some countries who glorify terrorists. This country will never bend before terrorism," the Prime Minister said..
