PCB invites Windies to play T20 series in Pakistan

Karachi [Pakistan], Jan.1 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invited World T20 Champion West Indies to play two-match T20 series in Pakistan in March, confirmed PCB Executive Committee Chairman Najam Sethi.

Sethi revealed that the proposal was sent as a precondition in reply to another invitation received from West Indies asking Pakistan to play a T20 series in Florida in United States.

"We gave a proposal to WICB that after West Indies' tour to England, which will end on March 9, they can come to Pakistan between March 11 to 15," the Dawn quoted Sethi as saying.

Asserting that the board is in constant touch with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on the matter, the PCB Executive Committee Chairman insisted that they are trying their level best to end the drought of international cricket in Pakistan.

Sethi further revealed that although the West Indies players have expressed their reservation on security issues in Pakistan, they are trying hard to convince them.

"We told them that the security situation had improved and Pakistan Super League final will also be played in Lahore.

In this scenario, there is no reason to refuse a tour to Pakistan. If PSL final is held in Lahore, followed by World T20 Champions visit to play T20s in Lahore then this development will open the door of international cricket in Pakistan," he said.

Pakistan have not hosted any international cricket tournaments since the terror attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009.
