Petition asking UK to condemn Pak receives 18,785 signatures

London [UK], Oct. 7 : The petition asking the British Government to "strongly condemn Pakistan for providing safe haven for terrorists" has already garnered 18,785 signatures.

The petition claims: "Pakistan continues to double speak on issue of terrorism. It has aided and abetted enemies of the international coalition (of which Britain is a leading partner with the US) against terrorism.

Osama bin Laden's hide out was in Pakistan. Pakistan continues to harbour UN sanctioned terror networks". Under the procedure, the government responds to all petitions that get more than 10,000 signatures and in case the number of signatures is more than 1,00,000, the petition compels the government to take the matter into Parliament for debate on the issue, reports the Nation.

The petition has the March 29, 2017, deadline after which the government will act according to the number of signatures.

The petition was uploaded around a week ago by a person named Naman Paropkari, whose details are yet not available.

Meanwhile, the signature campaign at the petition displayed at White House website has been stopped with 6,65,769 signatures, way beyond the 1,00,000 needed to merit a response from the White House.

Created on September 21, the petition to the White House had cited legislation moved in the Congress to demand state-sponsor designation for Pakistan.

It was shut down on Monday on suspicion of fraud regarding signatures..
