Raj reports 6 new COVID-19 cases, tally swells to 38 (Ld)

Jaipur, March 26 : Six new positive COVID-19 cases surfaced in Rajasthan on Wednesday, taking the total tally of coronavirus patients in the state to 38 so far, health officials confirmed here.

Four positive cases were reported from Bhilwara while Jodhpur and Jhunjhunu reported one case each, Additional Chief Secretary (health) Rohit Kumar Singh said.

Out of the four positive cases in Bhilwara, two are staff at a hospital where a doctor had tested positive for the dreaded virus, Singh said.

The third positive case in Bhilwara is a patient who was undergoing treatment at the same hospital, said officials.

The lady who tested positive in Jodhpur travelled with two persons who have already tested positive.

She came from Mumbai to Jodhpur on a train in the same coupe along with the other positive cases in a first class AC coach, Singh said.

So far, 17 positive cases have been found in Bhilwara where doctors and the nursing staff of a private hospital were found to be infected.



Jaipur has so far reported eight cases (including two Italians) while Jhunjhunu and Jodhpur reported five and four cases, respectively.



Curfew has been imposed in Bhilwara and the borders have been sealed in the district. Similarly, Jhunjhunu is also under curfew.

A total of 1939 samples have been tested in the state till date out of which 38 samples have returned positive, while 1820 samples came negative.

Results of 81 samples are awaited, Singh said.

Massive screening and surveying is in process to trace the suspected cases, said officials.
