SAIL employee, wife, son booked for corruption

Kolkata, May 9 : A case of corruption has been filed an employee of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and his wife and son for amassing disproportionate assets, the CBI said on Wednesday.

Kapil Mondal, an attendant-cum-assistant (Technical), Security Department, SAIL, Burnpur (West Bengal), his wife and son were booked on the allegations that he had amassed assets to the tune of Rs 1.38 crore during the period from April 2009 to January 2017, "disproportionate" to his known sources of income, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a statement.

The agency also conducted search operations at residence and office premises of accused in West Bengal's Kulti and recovered Rs 10 lakh cash and a pistol with six live cartridges.

Further probe is on, it said.
