Separatists sponsored shutdown continues for 90th day in Kashmir

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Oct.6 : Peoples' lives continues to remain paralysed in the restive Kashmir valley as the separatist sponsored shutdown still remains imposed at critical places following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8 in southern Kashmir.

Internet services are still suspended, except for mobile-phone services in several parts of the valley.

Local shops, schools have been closed and public transport is affected due to the shutdown. Meanwhile, police and paramilitary forces are put on high alert across the valley following the Uri and Baramulla attacks.

Wani (22) was killed by the Indian security forces in an encounter in the Anantnag district. He was prolific on social media and used the same to reach out to the youth while spreading the message of jihad.

His killing has triggered massive protests in Kashmir. More than 83 persons, including two cops, have been killed and thousands others injured in clashes between protestors and security forces since the unrest began.
