Snapdeal Sunshine, Akshaya Patra supported by Uber (and) Huawei outnumber campaign target

New Delhi [India], June 12 (ANI-BusinessWireIndia): Snapdeal Sunshine, a CSR initiative run by Snapdeal, India's leading marketplace in a joint venture with Akshaya Patra and Huawei celebrate the milestone of raising three million meals - consistently raising 1 million meals for 3 months in a row since the launch of the campaign.

The campaign, which was launched in early March this year was aimed at eradicating classroom hunger in India by providing hygienically cooked, nutritional mid-day meals to children attending government schools across India.

Extending their support for the campaign, for every donation made by any individual, Huawei, made an equally matched contribution to Akshaya Patra.

Additionally, Uber also displayed in-app messages and cards to encourage riders to contribute towards the cause.

RajnishWahi, Sr. V.P Corporate Affairs and Communications said, "We are proud to announce that the #OneMillionMeals campaign has outnumbered its targeted meals.

We are thankful to each and everyone who helped us in delivering 30,000+ Kg of daal at Akshaya Patra's kitchens and continue to renew their contribution for the coming months." As part of the campaign, Snapdeal invited its customers to contribute to the cause by donating daal (pulses) at Rs.

300/- for 200 mid-day meals. People could choose to contribute by buying as many meals starting from 200 meals to 40,000 meals. This can still be done by simply going to https:www.snapdeal.com/offers/one-million-meals and clicking on the meal plan that one would like to personally donate.

Once the payment is made, daal for the same amount will be directly delivered to Akshaya Patra, a not for profit organization that runs the world's largest NGO- run mid- day meal program.

The donated daal will then be prepared along with government supplied rice (and) wheat after which the meals will be served across schools.

Shridhar Venkat, CEO Akshaya Patra, "We at Akshaya Patra are delighted with the response generated by #OneMillionMeals campaign.

We are glad to have partnered with Snapdeal and Huawei and are grateful to each and every person who has contributed so generously to help us fight classroom hunger.

Besides raising donations, the campaign has also gone a long way in promoting the cause, which gives us hope that with the support of people like you we would soon be able to realize our mission of serving five million children by 2020." (ANI-BusinessWireIndia).
