St. Stephen College faculty helping families of drowned students: Principal

New Delhi [India], Dec. 17 : Expressing deep sorrow over the death of three students on their trip to Kerala, St. Stephen College Principal, Professor John Varghese on Saturday said that the College faculty is helping the families of the students in every possible way.

"The members of the faculty present there are assisting the families to handle the procedures and whatever possible from their side.

We hope that the bodies will be handed over today sometime," Varghese told ANI. He further expressed his gratitude to the Kerala government, the alumni and staff members for their support in this hour of need.

Three students of the college, who were on a holiday trip to Kerala, drowned in the Periyar River in Ernakulam district on Friday.

A local resort owner who was with them drowned as well. The incident took place when Anubhav Chandra from Jehanabad district of Bihar, Aditya Patel from Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh and Kenneth Jose from Kerala's Wayanad had moved away from their group of 13 students, to visit the location by the side of a private resort in the evening.

Anubhav and Aditya were third year Sanskrit students, while Kenneth was a first year Chemistry student.
