Tourism will help Tripura develop: CM

Agartala, April 19 : Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has said that Tripura will flourish swiftly if tourism is developed, and his BJP government will do everything to transform it into a model state in the next three years.

Speaking here late on Wednesday after launching a new English daily the "North East Colors", he said Tripura has world class bio-diversity.

"To enjoy the eco-forest or rainforest, you need not go to the Amazon rainforest in South America.

Southern Tripura's Dambur Lake is a better option," Deb added.

"My government will work more, speak less.

My government's work will speak for itself. My government will not deceive the people," said Deb, who is also the Tripura Pradesh President of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The "North East Colors", published by the state's leading daily group "Dainik Sambad", is the third English daily to be published from the state.

Hailing Narendra Modi, Deb said he is the first Prime Minister to have shown the courage to take a decision like the one on demonetisation of high value currencies and the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

"Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and other ministers only thought about demonetisation, but did nothing," he added.

Deb defected from the Congress in August 2017 and won the assembly polls on a BJP ticket.
